Monday- Time Test, Reading Packet Out, No math homework
Tuesday- Plant plants, start measurement
Friday- Reading Packet Due
Next Monday- Reading Log Due
We are starting measurement and plants this week. Last week, we ended our How-to unit and started our research unit. We will be modeling how to conduct research and pull information out before I set the students "loose" to do their own projects.
This week we've also started to take a couple "brain breaks" a day on gonoodle.com
The students really like the variety and some have requested being able to access it at home. All you need to do is go to gonoodle.com and make a parent account. Your student will then be able to access the site at home. It is a site with a bunch of videos to get students active or to calm them down (broken down by category).
Reading: As we start to discuss researching, practice highlighting just parts of an article so that students get the hang off only highlighting parts. Most students want to highlight too much of the text and then they have to re-read the whole article again in order pull out the important information. You can even practice with a newspaper article.
Math: We are moving into measurement. With measurement most students need repeated practice with using a ruler and using the different types of measurement. Ask your student to measure various things around the house using inches, centimeters, and millimeters.
Science: We just started plants on Monday. We will be planting our classroom plants on Tuesday. Ask your student what we are doing in science.
